If you are someone residing in Kolkata, then you may be already known by now, that this city has an abundance of romantic places like this to plan the perfect date with our partner. From old school historical places to full-on nature and everything in between, Kolkata is like that Pandora’s box- you open it and got everything you want. Here, in no particular order, some of the coolest and iconic places of Kolkata, you can definitely consider spending your next Saturday/Sunday evening with your partner-

 

ECO PARK, FOR THOSE WHO LOVE NATURE

 

For the couple, who loves to spend time together in the lap of nature and also wanted to feel adventurous at the same time, Eco park is the place for them. A relatively new addition in the map of Kolkata, this place already got famous with its well-curated lawns, large water bodies, and different other attractions. Located in the newest part of the city, this 408 acres of area has different separated parks like rose gardens, butterfly gardens, etc. It also has replicas of the seven wonders of the world, along with the replicas of some of the famous “terracotta mandirs of Bishnupur”, scattered here and there in the park. The newly open Japanese garden and the Restaurant is another favorite. But the most exciting thing is the gamut of sports, for both land and water, the park has to offer. You can also take a small toy train ride or also use the e-carts available there to explore the biggest park in the city.

VICTORIA MEMORIAL- FOR THE HISTORY LOVERS

 

A testament to the British colonial history of the city, Victoria Memorial stands tall and proud at one of the oldest and high-profile parts of the city. Built in a classic colonial architectural manner, this place has a lush garden, water bodies, different colonial style structures all over the pebbled walkways around the main memorial hall also. It is like a royalty and serenity personified. There is a museum inside the main memorial building, bearing several artifacts and portraits from the British monarchs and different viceroys’ of British India. There are also old photographs from the streets of Calcutta, exhibited in one gallery. The Victoria Memorial building also lit up beautifully in nights. And also you should not miss the light and sound show if you are planning to visit in a winter evening.

THE BRIDGE BESIDE FLOTEL, FOR THE FILMY ONES

This place also can be the hot spot for nature loves. But unlike Eco Park, simplicity is the key here. With soothing melodies of bird and cool breezes, fresh air and colorful greenery this place the perfect choice to sit around and talk for a while maybe. You can also spot many beautiful migratory birds flying over this artificial lake during winters. The beautiful walkway alongside the waterbody is also a great place to take a stroll with our loved one. Surrounded by the famous luxurious clubs of the city, and a visit to them was never a bad idea.  And don’t miss out the coolest and many of the Kolkata’s current favorite eateries around this area. The Rabindra Sorobor lake can be a great escape from the noisy, polluted city, with your partner, be it for a while only.

BOTANICAL GARDEN, HOWRAH, SHIBPUR

 

 

Though this place is a bit underrated, but it definitely has the potential to be a spot for an ideal date. Located just the opposite side of the Ganges, this place is the home of over lush green 12,000 flowers and plants  and many of which you have not ever heard off . Located outside the city sounds, this 270-acre place also has a water body inside as well. With trees all around, this place can be the perfect choice for arranging a small picnic for the both of you in a sunny winter or spring morning. Another interesting fact about this place is that it houses the world’s largest banyan tree. Though outside food and drinks are not allowed in the place, but you will definitely get everything you need to eat inside the premises.
